My name is Egon Hyszczak.
Follow me on TwitterI am a lover. I am a fighter. I am a programmer. I am a web developer. I am a serial entrepreneur. I am a hardcore *nix ninja.
I am clueful. I am plugged-in. I am one of the cognoscenti.
I am extremely passionate about *nix systems and technology. I have a vast and varied technical skill set. I am self motivated and detail oriented. I am a natural problem solver and engineer. If I don't know something, I figure it out. I enjoy breaking down complexities into their orthogonal components. I love to learn and I cherish the opportunity to apply my talents to finding and automating solutions to everyday technical challenges.
I specialize in Linux and BSD server/client development. Fluent in many different programming languages and Linux/unix distributions.
- Go
- Java
- JavaScript
- Lisp
- PHP
- Python
- Solidity
Unices that I am fluent in:
- Arch, Debian, CoreOS, Gentoo, Redhat, & Slackware Linux
- FreeBSD, OpenBSD, & OSX
I include things like programming languages and operating systems in the about section because they are a major hobby and passion of mine. I am a tech-head — a "geek" if you will. I love understanding the ins-and-outs of technical systems. If I don't know how something works, I figure it out. My logic and problem solving skills have come from countless hours of pushing my knowledge and understanding further, where many others have promptly given up.
I love old adventure games.
- Monkey Island
- Kings Quest 5-6
- Quest of the Longbow
- Dagger of Amon Ra
- Quest for Glory 4
- Police Quest 4
- Return to Zork et. al.
- Diablo 1 & 2
The old school first person shooters:
- Doom
- Doom 2
- Duke Nukem 3D (Build Engine)
- Team Fortress (HPB Sniper)
- Quake 1 2 3
- Counterstrike (Beta 1-6)
Arcade games of the vertical scrolling variety
- Raiden
- Aero Fighters
- Super Star Soldier
I also love SNK in general, especially the artwork of titles like King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, and Metal Slug.
Been really digging Resident Evil 5 for Xbox in co-op mode on my friend Matt's six foot projector. We recently finished Army of Two. If only I had been a beta tester. AoT had a lot going for it, but there were some bugs that I am convinced kept it from wider acceptance.
Computer games were what got me interested and on my way to hacking the planet. It is also where I would like to end up; an old fogie game developer.
